A big decision..
Categories: Etsy, Health/Weight Loss
About 2 months ago, I finally took the plunge and opened my own Etsy shop. I had a blast sitting at my sewing machine and making new shop items happen.
It was wonderful to check that off the ol’ 101 in 1001 list.
However, I came to realize that the personal projects that I love doing were on the back burner. I wasn’t making quilts. I wasn’t making the homemade gifts I planned to create. I was stressing about making my shop into something.
Personally, I hated that idea. More stress? Crafting is supposed to be fun…an escape away from the stress. It’s supposed to be where I can come home from work, unwind in a few yards of fabric or skeins of yarn, and smile/enjoy the finished product.
I also felt like this blog turned into a blog about nothing but Etsy stuff. That was what I felt like my life was turning into..taking on this Etsy shop. I really didn’t like where that was going, and neither did y’all! I lost quite a few readers when I started blogging about Etsy! (Boo…hope y’all come back!)
Also, having the shop left me little to no time to really do anything else. The health/fitness part of my 101 in 1001 is still completely abandoned. I feel like I need to focus on this, because a healthy lifestyle is something I’d really love to (and really need to) attain.
You might think I’m just a quitter. However, I see closing my Etsy shop not really as quitting, but rather, a sign of recommitment to the things that SHOULD take priority in my life. I’m committing to LOVING my craft room again, and also, committing to loving the beginnings of a healthier lifestyle.
If you’re curious, I may open my shop again (one day). However, when I do, it will be when I’m absolutely sure that I have the priorities in my personal life under much better control.
