Darn you, Water!

January 6, 2010 by Amy 5 Comments

I admitted my starting weight to y’all a few days ago and yesterday morning, I was absolutely confused.

264 lbs.

Huh?? How did I go from 272 to 264? I know, I know, water weight, but REALLY? I’ve NEVER lost that much so quickly before! It’spretty solid there too…I was 264.6 this morning.

Odd indeed. I mean, 8 lbs. I promise you I’m not starving myself or working out Biggest Loser style either. I can’t complain though. I’m back to my pre-wedding-diet weight.

Have you ever had such a huge fluctuation in weight when starting a diet/healthier lifestyle?

sometimes mine goes up or down as much as 5 lbs between morning and night due to (i assume) water weight… also my scale sucks – swear the reading changes depending on where you place your feet on it. still, losing 8 lbs… i wouldnt complain either!

This has definately happened to me before! I think your system gets such a shock, going from bad eating to healthy eating, and that first week is a big jump start! I am particularly susceptable to water weight when I eat salty or fried foods. That sodium bloats me up real nice! LOL

Good job on the jump start, it’s encouraging to see the numbers go down so quickly I bet! I haven’t posted my updated (all-time-high) weight on my blog yet this year, but it’s coming soon. Embarrassing part is that my scale doesn’t even weigh that high, so I have no idea what progress, if any, I’m making. I only know my “starting weight” due to my annual exam at the doc & having to get on their scale. Ugh!

I had that happen once before, I had just started a workout program and during the same week cut the majority of sodium out of my diet to “test” out some stomach issues I’d been having. At the end of the week I’d lost almost 10lbs! I agree with Teale in that I think sometimes the initial “big changes” cause a bit of shock….either way that’s 8lbs down, so congrats!! đŸ™‚

Just the other day my weight went up 3lbs in just two days. I had gone out for Ramen the night before so I think the salt levels really messed me up (I was back down two days later)!
